Happy Feet delivers an anti-Christian message to our kids

My wife and I took our two children and niece to see Happy Feet last night, lured by the promise of an endearing tale of penguins (my daughter's favorite animal) and amazing animation. Boy, was I disappointed. Not with the cute penguins and amazing animation, which were indeed very well done, but with being assaulted the entire time. This was nothing but a two-hour crusade against Christianity. It was an overtly political movie about environmentalism and humanism over Christianity.

The main character, Mumble, is different from others because he dances instead of sings. He is ostracized from the "elders" and blamed for the food shortage because their god wouldn't approve of his alternative lifestyle. These elders look more like vultures than penguins and are clearly representing the pious leaders of the Christian church. They actually make him choose to "turn or burn." He must "repent" of his ways and conform to their traditional views. The point is clear. Christians aren't accepting of people different from ourselves, won't allow them to be a part of our church, and are harsh and judgmental. I'm surprised Mumble didn't come "out" by the end of the movie as a homosexual penguin.

On his journey to discover the true reason why the fish supply is dwindling, he meets a televangelist-like penguin who accepts payment for words of wisdom and then hooks up with multiple penguins. The film actually depicts this character leaving his pulpit to go to the couch with four females, and he asks "Which one of you will be first?"

In fact, this movie has a LOT to say about sex...and a lot to sing about it too. It was very uncomfortable to watch adult and children penguins singing "You don't need to be beautiful to turn me on, I just need your body, baby, from dusk til dawn" and jamming to the very inappropriate "Let's Talk About Sex, Baby."

And then, to top off the attack on Christianity, the first building you see when Mumble and his friends come across the human fishing outpost is a dilapidated (obsolete?) Christian church with a cross on top, followed by scenes of garbage floating in the ocean. A church...in a fishing outpost in the antarctic. This building wasn't necessary in the film, except for the movie makers' not-so-subtle agenda.

Christians, don't be suckered in by penguins, Robin Williams' brilliant voice-overs, and incredible animation. This movie is an attack on YOU.

My biggest disappointment other than having wasted an evening that could have been spent in a much more enjoyable way, was having rewarded Hollywood for this attack on me. There’s nothing like paying someone to insult you! Do NOT make he same mistake. Stay away from this film and tell others to do the same.

It's "Christians" like you that make people attack Christianity.

Besides - even if "Happy Feet" was an allegory of Christianity, it's a pretty accurate reflection, isn't it?

Christians like me, huh? I'm not the one passing judgment on someone you don't know.

And no, Happy Feet is far from the Christianity that I know and love. Anyone is welcome in our church, regardless of their backgrounds or lifestyles. There was absolutely nothing accurate in that "allegory" of true Christianty. The Christians I know are generous, compassionate, and give way a load of their time and money to benefit others. There are many people who come to our church out of very bad lifestyles...but rather than passing judgment we give them help and guidance to become better people. That's wrong?

What are YOU, Mr. Anonymous Hit-n-Runner, doing to make this world a better place?

Happy Feet is a good movie with an even better message, both obvious and subliminal. People should choose humanism over any religion. "God" isn't doing anything to fix the problems in our world so we need to step in and do the job he obviously can't, or just won't, do. Our best bet is to just destroy all these false "gods" and work together to fix these issues rather that lie to ourselves and say that some all-knowing, loving, and don't forget invisible, "god" will fix them for us so long as we pray to him, serve him, give him our money, and several other ludacris things.

And Talon, you are trying to pass judgment on others. Saying that you're suprised Mumble didn't turn out gay by the end of the movie??? Not all people who aren't Christian are gay...Maybe you need to rethink your life and not be so blind. You could actually stand to learn A LOT from Mumble and his friends.

At 3:16 PM, Blogger KDoel said...

The movie was so politically correct that it almost wasn't complete without a gay penguin.

God solves a lot of problems in this world, but some people choose not to see it or acknowledge it. I thank God that he's a part of my life, and I'm sorry that you have chosen to not have him as a part of yours.

You certainly have no understanding of God or the relationship between him and his followers. Have you seen the impact of Christian workers who have spent weeks of volunteer time helping to rebuild New Orleans? Who mans the soup kitchens and homeless shelters? A lot of selfless Christian people.

You can mock Christians and relegate our God as obsolete, all the while accusing Christians of being the ones who are judgmental, but you completely miss out on every benefit of having a relationship with your own creator.

--I only wish I had read your blog before I wasted my $13.99 on the DVD at Walmart -- I was apalled at the blatant attack on Christianity as well. So sad... Why can't Hollywood just let kids be kids and not try to cram their agendas down their throats??!!

What makes you think this was an attack on you or me? It was an attack on those who claim the Christian label and don't live like Christ. Televangelists and those who sit in a judgment seat that only rightfully belongs to God are not legitimate Christians...so you should not be offended. However it is sad that there aren't more public and visible good examples of Christians in our world. The people on God TV just aren't cutting it, sorry.

I grew up with both great and horrible Christians and being religious has absolutely nothing to do with what kind of qualities you have as a person. You can't define a religion to be "good" because that's how you want to interpret it to make it appear wholesome. There is no one correct way to interpret Christianity; its history is full of both loving acceptance and downright inhumane cruelty. Jesus encouraged love for everyone, and yet God drowned all of his own children.

The movie is not an attack on anything.. it's asking young people to THINK for themselves about issues rather than be told what to believe.

So, get off your high religious horse, step out of your little Westernized bubble, and accept that some people will criticize you. You don't need to prove them right by posting pretentious stuff like this. I find it hilarious that you assume the outcome must be "environment & humanity" OR Christianity, like they can't co-exist. If you teach your kids like this, I feel bad for their lack of exposure to the world and progressive ideas. I'm wondering if you have a post complaining about Wall-E criticizing the American consumer culture as well...

I just got through watching the movie (on ABC) and I'd have to agree that its a not-so-subtle attack on Christianity, with a little bit of environmentalism thrown in for good measure.

All the bag penguins are the religious leaders. Mumble is ostracized because he's different, hmmmmm, I wonder what that's supposed to represent?

I'm REALLY glad I didn't take my daughter to see this movie and didn't reward Hollywood with my hard earned dollars.

Gosh how bazaar, I'm using a clip from the end of happy feet to talk to kids in church tomorrow, I guess I missed the big anti christian message.......hmm maybe because I didn't go looking for it. I loved it, very funny, think you guys are looking a bit too intensely at this, come on the mexican penguins were hilarious and the message is great, be yourself as God created you to be, don't go down the road of religion and judgment, its not fun!!!!

I cant believe some of the posts I am reading on this blog! Especially from so called professing christians. I mean have you ever read the Bible!!! Not just the verses you like but the whole consel of God! You know His truth is not buffet style. You dont get to pick and choose what you want and forget the rest! This movie attacks Christianity! And that should be enough to make you hate it right there! And yes I said hate! The Bible says the fear of the Lord is to hate evil! Christianity and christians and the church are from God!!! His doing! In fact, Christ gave His life for the church!!! And if you think God takes lightly to the unbelieving world rejecting Christ and criticizing and ridiculing His church you are wrong. Because of His grace and only for a time God is allowing this to happen but there is a judgement day coming!!! And it is not for Christians! I mean read your Bibles-so called Christians!!!2 Thesalonians 1:7-8
And to you who are troubled(he's talking to the church of believers-not to the unbelievers)rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from Heaven with His mighty angels, In flaming fire, taking vengence on all them that know not God and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
And about judging...it is not judging to tell someone what the judge has said!!! But then again, I guess youde have to know your Bible to know that.
And as far as someone taking this movie and showing it at their church...I hope you repent- and yes, I use the word repent! If its good enough for the Bible its good enough for me.
And one last thought, just because you say your a Christian and may even go to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than being in a garage makes you a car. Jesus said all men will know your my disciples that you have love for another(he was talking about Christians!!!)And when you go bashing your Christian brother or sister because they stand for truth and goodness and warn of the devils tactics wrapped in a kiddie package-SHAME ON YOU!!
Thank you true believer for this post-it is not in vain!!! May the Lord Jesus Christ bless you richly!

The movie Happy Feet, can be interpreted in different ways you could look at it as it Mumble is Jesus and he is the saviuor was he not rejected and thought of as bad and other crap.... why do you think that it is about christianity today why can't it be about christianity in the distant past what the whole religion is based on... some people really shock me these days

Why oh why can't just one person I read from try to practice thinking with some degree of common sense? First, the Talon Dude- I agree with you about the movie on several counts but, the sad truth is that it was just obvious here. You can pick out the same im-moral sentiments from Saturday Morning Cartoons made 40 years ago. The thing that really hit me was when you stated the song lyrics.... Oooooooh that kinda thing don't set well with me. I am very much a Christian but, I'm more of a Knights Templar type of attitude. I have two daughters. If I ever get the blessing of being stuck in an elevator with the low bred, ill minded, scum off of a pathetic excuse who felt that he would just donn it upon himself to teach sex ed to "PG" movie goers, I'll take that trapping as permission by God Almighty to "convence" the "mistaken" by any means I choose. When you pay for PG, it should deliver that w/o exposing your kids to "Penguin Porn"

A movie is a movie, can you understand it's just for the betterment of our lives, we go through our lives and need some sort of enjoyment, the Bible yes is a great source of knowledge; which i do believe in our lord, but it can't bring what we, in our lives to date, the enjoyment movies do. So why is it that you bring upon our "boring" lives this "oh man it's against Christ" stuff? because you have no life in general. Our lord and savior would be shaking his head at you right now because he would rather you enjoy a fucking movie and enjoy your life then think people are going anti-Christ because of something people actually particularly enjoy. so again as someone said, get off your high horse and stop going to movies and stuff where you stand in the lobby preaching about the lord. We all love him and adore him and thank him for what he has done in the past, but let us live our lives and stop pestering us with your "unholyness". have a good day and if you comment back all i will say is praise the lord because you have struck again and answered to another person who thinks your blog is a complete waste of time.

I saw the movie and I read your bible. The movie was much better and the Mumble character was much more believable than your mythical jesus character. I'm glad you exposed your kids to the enlightening tale of Happy Feet, and maybe, someday they'll see beyond the filthy lies that are shoved down their throats in church.

I find this so humourous. I'm Danish, been a Protestant/lutheran all of my life I find this movie both cute, stunning, funny and brings tons of good messages.

First of all, this whole PG thing... Are you trying to keep your children inside a tiny little bubble from life and the world? Everything from thinking outside the box, don't judge unless you be judged to in a very subtle way teach kids in all ages about the process of life is just great.

This whole movie is just so openminded, and not as much anti-christian as anti-religious in it's entirely. It might even be a tribute to Jesus, as he spoke his mind, lived a life based upon love not hate nor judgement upon others and other ideas.

That you hate upon this movie is only a result of your own close mindedness.

I borrowed this movie from a friend. Within the first 2 minutes I was appaulled by the sexual content. I watched it alone, as my kids are grown and gone. I only continued to the end, to see what Hollywood is now pushing. I just couldn't believe it! It wasn't even subtle. The sexual content was the foundation for the whole movie, and even included one male spanking the butt of a female during one of the MANY sexually oriented songs. And I'm sure many parents will buy the sound track for their children.
The attack on Christianity goes without saying, but it was more than disgusting when the guy who obviously represented a false black preacher/prophet, went off to have sex with several females. This was not even remotely sublte.
I fear Disney himself would roll over in his grave.
I am only taking the time to write this because other comments have been antagonistic and defensive on the side of the movie.
To those of you who think this is OK suff, remember that thought when your children become sexually active, perhaps pregnant, rebellious, etc. And don't shake your fist at God The Great I Am when his judgement hits. Because this is the very thing that is bringing it about. The scripture says He is slow to anger, but boy, when that long fuse has reached the end, He states imfatically that He is coming "without pity or commpassion".
Choose thee this day whom you will serve. He that is filthy, let him be filthy still, and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still. (Taken from the book of Revelation.)
Get your seat belts on folks, this is only the begining of sorrows. Those who scoff now, will one day be weaping and nashing their teeth.
Christ's sacrifice will prevail, His Kingdom SHALL come, and His will SHALL be done.

So many of you readers seem to be in a state of denial concerning the satanic entertainment industry. I was "atheistic" only 6 or 7 years ago, until I noticed a trend in promoting homosexuality, defiance against lawful authority, and worship of the medical industrial complex for all of your health woes. When in reality, God already declared his standards of morality, justice, family, and health thousands of years ago. You may continue in your attempt to hide and obfuscate the truth, but your efforts will be in vain. You will be stomped on by the New World Order secret societies hell bent on manipulating your every thought and deed. But until you repent, God said to you who trample over his Law, that in the day calamity befalls you, he will laugh! You think that's a wicked God? What would truly be wicked is if He created you and didn't teach you how to live. Don't you teach your children how to be? Or do you teach them to drink wine at age 6? To every thing there is a SEASON. All these cartoons are targeting YOU the adult. They are NOT for children. *SIGH*

It's funny to me when christians fight about what their god wants. I want you ALL to take notice of how this occurs. Who is right? Obviously, you all think you are. Truth is, none of you are.
How about you stop playing the victim and thinking that only your religion matters. This movie is not attacking christianity, its attacking religion and superstition.
Also, you may not be aware of this but... SEX EXISTS. Its a part of life. Its a beautiful thing that needs to be talked about. Yes, animals have sex too. A stork isn't responsible for babies. Grow up.

Perhaps it is time that we do what you did to us during the great genocide. You people tortured and killed people who did not believe in your god the last time you had political power and well as religious power. Never forget the burning times. I know I never will and we cannot allow that to happen again. You stand in the street preaching of eternal torture just to scare people to believe what you believe. THAT IS CALLED TERRORISM! I think it is time we use the full power of the USA Patriot Act and shut down your fear mongering hate speech once and for all. You want me to keep going on cause I can talk about your summer camps (see the documentary "jesus camp" for more info) you people indoctrinate your children to hate and judge. The only difference between you and and middle east terrorist is that you don't arm your kids and send them to kill people....yet. So you just keep mouthing off about what you perceive as an attack on your religion. We (the ones who choose rational thought) are the ones under attack by you and that is about to change. You are terrorist, domestic terrorist and I personally am going to see to it that you all are brought to bare against the full authority and power of the United States Department of Justice. Your days of oppression are at an end. PS Don't drop the soap.

wow...talk about projecting your own hatred on others! Did you even think about what you wrote before you wrote it? Christians are the haters? I don't think you know any Christians. Jesus taught about how to love people and that's what every Christian I know teaches their kids. My daughter volunteers once a month at the local homeless shelter. Christian kids learn how to serve others. They also learn right and wrong, which I assume is your problem with it -- because teaching a child a behavior is "wrong" is being judgmental.

To threaten to punish people with the government for adhering to beliefs that were the foundation for that government is really sad. It doesn't make me angry, but it does make me sad that people like you think the way you do. I'd hate to live inside your head and will be praying for you.

At 6:35 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

You can be sad. You can believe whatever you choice to believe, that is the nature of this wonderful country. Teaching a child right and wrong is one thing, but teaching them to ostracize those who believe something different than they do is WRONG. I know that no christian will ever accept logic. Your minds have been molded from the moment of your birth. It is you I feel sad for. You will never know the joy and wonder of having a mind without limits. But forcing a person to sit through a "hell fire and brimstone" sermon before the homeless shelter allows you to eat, or a soup kitchen that makes you participate in a church service before you can eat is wrong. You may very well be a christian that embodies the good nature of christianity, and if you are then my hat is off to you; but what you may not know (or are incapable of seeing) is that christians are not all the same. In some parts of the world (I reside in Kansas) christians force their beliefs on others and when someone chooses not to believe they are treated as vermin. They are kicked out of the homeless shelter in the middle of winter. They are banned from the soup kitchens for not bowing their heads to pray. I used to be a christian and what I learned about the man called jesus is that he would not act in such a manner. If he would not oppress someone who rejected him what gives christians the right to do so. I have many friends that are christians. We have spent years developing a mutual respect for one another and a friendship that is rock solid. It is based on one principal. We do not try to alter one anther's beliefs and we do not treat each any different for it. However the evidence cannot be ignored (at least not by those who are suffering by christian oppression) christians are forcing their religion on others and resistance is answered with anger and hatred. To clarify I am not threatening to use the government to punish people of a particular faith for following their religion. I am simply promising to using the power that every American has been given by the United States Constitution to stop acts of oppression and hate against those who choice to believe something different. The foundation for our government was not christianity, it was the principals and morals that christianty provided to those that could truly understand it's meaning. Our government (by law) cannot be influenced by any religion. Otherwise people will be oppressed and that is what is happening. Just because you say "no one is being opressed" does not make it so. Hitler said nothing happened to the Jews but that was not true either. Millions of people are feeling oppressed by christianity in this country and denying it will not make it go away. Lawsuits, protests, bills, etc. people are crying out for help. We must act accordingly before history repeats itself. If it is one thing that history has taught us ( in this country as well as others) is that christians can not tolerate being opposed and having others believing in a god that is not theirs. We must, therefore, take steps to ensure that christians understand that they cannot harass, abuse, assault and terrorize people who live outside what they believe is acceptable. We are a civilization of millions now and we are all different. If you cannot abide by the laws of this country that protect the oppressed then perhaps this is no longer where you need to be. But make no mistake, christians who terrorize and oppress others will be prosecuted ( not to be confused with persecuted, I know how you like to claim that) to the fullest extent of the law. Yes you can feel sad for that and that is ok but remember what is not ok is that your happiness cannot be secured with the oppression of even one single individual. So go pray.

In the spirit of the Christmas season, I'm simply going to post some thoughts for all.

If you call yourself a Christian, don't be the caricature that "Anonymous" has created. Our model is Jesus Christ, who God gave to us as both an example and a savior.

Matthew 7:21-23 says, "Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’"

Many call themselves Christians but aren't. If you say Jesus is Lord but live like the person "Anonymous" seems to think all Christians are, then you are not a Christian.

To Anonymous and those who think as you do, you seem hateful and angry toward those who are some of the most loving, giving people in this nation and around the world. Christians donate a huge amount of time and money to community schools, shelters, disaster relief and all sorts of efforts to make our world a better place. You can choose to reject the gift of Christ, but anger to Christians and equating us with terrorists seems wildly out of place. The Bible says the true followers of Jesus Christ are the light of the world. Loving and serving others should at least be appreciated even if you don't choose to believe in Jesus as God's son.

I pray that all of you will have a wonderful Christmas and will have His light shine on you during this time of love, giving and peace.

Merry Christmas!

Reading this years later, I am disappointed in YOU, dear author. You started off with a good point, then headed straight to judgement. Not Christian-like of you. True, there are many different things inappropriate about the movie, as far as it being a childrens' movie IN GENERAL.

The movie is not a deliberate attack on you and other Christians like me, get over yourself. It is rated PG for a reason, and just like any other parent of ANY belief system, the choice is yours to never see it again.

At 8:21 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

This movie isn't just anti-Christian, it is anti-religion in general.
I don't understand your point of view though. This movie is pointing out the things that are bad about religion and that corrupt people and make them do bad things, and you are upset about it...for some reason.
Don't you want your kids to be able to realize when people are using a system for their own personal gain? I am not saying anything about whether or not you and your children's beliefs are true or false, I'm just saying that humans can be nasty creatures, and use people's beliefs to do bad things. It isn't attacking YOU, it's attacking THEM. The ones who are giving your religion a bad reputation. You should be GLAD, in my opinion. It is teaching your kids not to just follow things blindly, and being able to form your own opinion on somethings is a good trait to have.

I just finished watching Happy Feet for the first time and must admit that I immediately saw the anti Christian message. After doing so, I googled "Happy Feet anti Christian" which brought me here. I have to say it deeply saddens me to see how many people choose to stick their head in a hole and claim that the movie has no anti Christian agenda. It also saddens me to see so many people claim to be Christians in order to add validity to their point, when they are clearly NOT Christians. Thirdly, it saddens me to see that there are so few people responding in defense of Christianity. We all have the right to our point of view, true, but its amazing to see how much hatred there is for Christianity today. If there is to be equal tolerance for all religions, then Christianity should be no exception. For some reason some people feel its abhorrent to discriminate against any religion but its perfectly acceptable to discriminate against Christians. Not cool. The movie without its agenda would have been great and entertaining but with its clear discrimination, I found it repulsive and I do not recommend it to anyone. As for the guy that hid the mark of the beast in his message, yes, I noticed, and I'm sure you had every intention of being antagonistic but all you did in the process was discredit yourself. That being said, I feel sorry for you and ill be praying for you and all others who choose to be antagonistic, ignorant or hateful. As for the author of this thread, it takes a lot of courage to stand up against prejudice. God asks us to be brave in the face of evil. I appreciate your standing up, despite the criticisms of the others here, and I will be praying for God to give you strength in the face of adversity. May God bless you for your courage. He made it clear that very few will make it to heaven, not by our good deeds but in our faith in Jesus Christ. For those that believe that good deeds pave their way into heaven, their end will unfortunately be a rude awakening. I do hope, however, that all people here find peace and that the Holy Spirit bless them with the opportunity to see the truth.

Are you kidding me? "cram their agendas down their throat?" You mean exactly like a lot of the children who are forced to read bible passages and pray in school. Automatically raised to believe in a religion that has held our societies development back for way too long. These children who are psychologically tortured out of fear of being sent to hell for failing to follow one of the bibles ever changing list of rules. Sorry for enjoying a film that does exactly the same to children as the bible does. There are plenty of films that have hidden biblical messages and I highly doubt that you made the same comments about them. This film is perfect for highlighting exactly what the church has been known to treat people like who have different views, beliefs and different ways of doing things. If they wanted to get the message across even better, they could have shown mumble being burnt at a stake for sinning or stoned to death or any of the other ways thay Christians have "dealt with" sinners and non-believers.

this movie is so anti Christian it makes me sick . The church is under real attack ,it has been blamed for all the problems of the world over and over but no mention is made of all the good it does , humanity is flawed by nature, we need rules and guidelines to live by to avoid the collapse of civilisation. And there is a very real pro gay agenda in all the media , permeating our daily lives and confusing children . and those of you who talk of false gods ...how much time have you thought of someone else and not just the fulfilling of your "I want it all " appetites. It may be anti religion but that is up the viewer to decide what is the message. Interpretation is the greatest thing about art. You, the original poster, may like it better if you think of it as a movie about Jesus and god being something personal to each and every one. There are many forms of Christianity many you have probably never heard of and/or have already said no that's not the right one. Think about it a new person is born into the world much like Jesus and he was the inspiration to create an addition to the bible that everyone in his culture was following. Such as people did with the story of Jesus. Christianity is really an addition to the Jewish faith. As I remember at the end of the film people (By which I mean penguins) accepted him into their world while getting rid of the false profits and adding to their culture his own rituals or prayers. The movie is whatever you think it is, art is beautiful in that way.

Such as the album "Hospice" By The Antlers. The true story is of an abusive woman constantly screaming and hurting the singer. (Peter S.) Which is explained by a metaphor in the form of a relationship of a doctor and a hospice patient. Only a few years ago, I thought it was about the doctor living through his patient's anger because he loved her.

After the arrival of Jesus, the philosophers or "ethical innovative", had to
compare with him. For some was ally, for others neutral and for other an

have the hoped fortunes, but they picked up the blame of the posterity that
from their ambitions inherited only ruin. They built the own life purpose by
discrediting Jesus and contributing to the worse anti-Semitism. For Hebrews
their death began a suffering path long two millennium and the Marxism, guilty
to have tried "to kill him" conceptually, has been also theirs worse
promoter of image. The "guru" Korean Sun Myung Moon, is their
emulator of the twentieth century, stretched out in the attempt to rise as

new myths! In this book you found analysis and evaluations on characters that
even though lived in very distant historical moments, are similar in purpose
and in the immoderate ambition to replace the Christ.

Oh Hai Thar. I hate that movie too. It's very very gay and stupid. Mumble is the most annoying, disfigured, immoral character I have come across to date. I hope he dies.

I realize this thread is eons old. But let's get something straight about Christ.

It's going to disappoint and offend some. But he actually came to release us from the one commonality that we had separating us from God--sin. Sin isn't just being "naughty". Sin is a state of being. We are all there at one point. Not even Mother Theresa was exempt.

Jesus was the one man born without the toxic condition and deserved nothing like what he ended up getting, but was willing to take it so that the sin condition could be lifted and we could actually have a relationship with a living God. He never once said we wouldn't have a rough time here even if we trusted him. In fact he said that if he was getting knocked around, so would you. Life ain't perfect.

There are things to this day he still doesn't approve of. Read your Bible. And although he loves compassionate people who love others, it's not all about accepting certain behaviors. But the people who have issues of any kind need him the most. They're the most important people in the world.

Number one thing in letting go of man's powerful, but fallible, wisdom is to accept that of Christ. It's not there to condemn, but to help you through every hard time you have and to celebrate the good times. He believes in your potential.

So don't be so quick to pass off God because he's alive and he does love you. Likewise, don't punch people in the face with God and the Bible. Allow him to correct the errors. Don't get angry if someone disagrees. Pray that all come to repentance under the power of the Holy Spirit.

Can we stop fighting?

I'd say it's an attack on Scottish Presbyterians (the Kirk) in particular, but any church who blames unpleasant current events (as in a fish famine) on sin in the community deserves a roasting. I don't know about you (the OP), I think you are reasonable people, but I'd turn your attention on those who falsely claim authority and superior knowledge, whatever their religion.

I am gay and I think there is a lesson to be taught here..we all just need to get along no matter what the race, religion, sexual orientation, whatever it is ....I think the movie was about just how cruel beings can be ....why not just accept??

XD you must realize that Christianity is not the only "persecuted" religion from this. They also make fun of atheists (I recognize that we are not a religion), but what you must understand is that not all non-Christians attack you. I welcome the need for religion in a community because it is the only way some people can cope with day to day life. And that is perfectly find. I became an atheist because my belief in god made me clinically depressed. And then I found truth. My message to Talon; This is nothing compared to the satire in the AWARD WINNING NOVEL "Brave New World" that effortlessly parodies the Christian society in a dystopic future. The author himself WAS Christian. That further proves the need for satire. Yes I know this is old but holy shit is it frustrating to see Christians being OFFENDED BY SATIRE! THAT shows why atheism is much more thought out and scientific. And why I identify with it. AND CLEARLY WHY YOU DON'T.

Blah blah, stfu you over sensitive whiner. Not everything has to do with your fairy tale religion.

Really you and talon are ridiculous the old vultures are actually the rich elites in my opinion, and the church is the first thing he sees after a long journey of hardship.. And how the people have abandoned and died thats sort of either side....you will see what you are looking for ...what i saw was an abandonned church and grave yard as the first thing from the dark and great winds....( the penguins tribulations) and seriosly GAY why not a crossdresser or wrong or anything else . . its just a movie trying to tell us not to pollute, judge , be greedy etc...

I wish Christians would take the time to actually study their own religion rather than get upset when it gets critiqued. 99% of 'believers' haven't even bothered to read the book - let alone understand how it was written - and who put it together. A great resource for those who are interested is 'the bible with sources revealed' - a smart book that breaks the bible down into it's original stories based off the distinct dialects they were written in.

I watched 'Happy Feet' when it first came out. There is an additional message there, concealed under the sexual and anti-Christian innuendos. It reminded me of a CERN cartoon of a goat. Like Happy Feet, a Christian Church is shown in a frozen world. CERN is obsessed with dancing and SHIVA the god of destruction. In Happy Feet, it is interesting that the penguins are so happy, they do not seem able to control their feet. Uncontrolled feet has a folklore connection to the devil and dancing. It should be noted, Dante, in the Divine Comedy portrayed the lowest reaches of hell as a frozen kingdom of ice.

I love how you take it as an attack on Christianity because it's about someone different not being accepted. That's like OJ Simpson saying a movie is an attack on him because it's about a black man killing his wife and getting away with it. It's basically an admission of guilt on your part.

The church shown in the movie is an actual church in Antarctica. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norwegian_Lutheran_Church_(Grytviken)

Maybe you should spend less time espousing your narrow-minded beliefs and do some research.

Wow, if you believe that you are in bad shape. God is not mocked. Whatsoever a man shows, that shall he reap. God is not interested in making everything perfect for us in a fallen world. He is interested in a relationship with you through faith, and if you ignore that and blow it in this life, you dont get a do-over.

I appreciate your thoughts and opinions. But you’ve obviously missed the point of this movie. As someone who grew up in the church being as obviously different as Mumble, it may be easier for someone more removed from the church to understand what this film was going for. The obvious parallel the film was drawing is centralized on spreading belief to people who do not want it spread, equating it to garbage being spread in the ocean near a dilapidated church. Although the people may be gone and the church may be empty, the damage done with endure and remain. Nothing in film is an accident. The themes of this movie, being the church, science, and basic animal instinct, were beautifully were beautifully drawn and represented. This movie is not an attack on Christians, the ENTIRE point of this movie, which you unfortunately and obviously missed, is to show the narrative that was not represented when this movie came out. People who were stifled by the church, who weren’t allowed to express who they were. The filmmakers had to demonize the church and turn the leaders into caricatures, because that is necessary in filmmaking. If you felt attacked by the movie, you were one of the people it was made because of. This movie isn’t about you, but obviously it is for you.
